5 Things I Learned, with Aaron McDonald

Transformations

You read Aaron’s incredible transformation story here – but we didn’t want to let him stop there! Here’s what he had to say when we asked him about the five most important things he learned from his wonderful experience –

1. Motivation

It’s what gets you started, while habit is what keeps you going. You will always need something to motivate you and keep going so you meet your goals. If you keep at it long enough it will become habit, keep at it and don’t give up.

2. Surround yourself with others that support you

Not the ones that only support you when you do what they think you should do or what they want. It’s your life and your goals you desire to be happy. It’s very rewarding to prove the negative people wrong, so lean on the positive people that will make you most successful in doing exactly that.

3. Goals

Regardless of whether they’re large or small – always, always, always have goals in mind. Keep at them and stop at nothing to achieve them. Let people know what your goals are be sure to be open with others about what will make you happy and what will bring success to your life.

4. Mind over Matter

The human mind is very powerful. It creates “reality” because what we think determines what we can and can’t see or do. If we put our mind to what we need to do, we can overcome many obstacles – including physical ones. This applies to weight loss, for example. Many people won’t do it because they don’t feel it’s possible or it’s too hard. It’s their mind which determines what can and cannot be done –  when we decide to do something, we find it easier than we thought it would be, and it gives ourselves the chance to do the impossible.

5. It’s on you

Your physical and mental health is your responsibility – no one else’s. Think of it like a credit report, a criminal record or a resume. If you don’t pay bills, commit a crime or leave a job under bad conditions – you may have consequences. Even if it’s not fully your fault, it’s still your responsibility to make the correction and fix any issues. Treat yourself and your body in the same fashion.
