Change. An inevitability of life… I have heard this thousands of times in a thousand different ways. I’m sure you have too. But what does it mean? How do we embrace change and make it help us?
It’s unfortunate that so many go with the masses. We see this everyday as people go about their day, head down, mind off. Going with the masses may be is easy in the moment – You don’t get noticed, you don’t stick out, nobody feels threatened by you, so no one challenges you. It may seem easy, but this way of living his dire consequences!
The hard part about going against the grain is if you have a unique idea, perspective, or thought you have to fight for it with every last breath! The masses are uncomfortable with change. Take the person who decides to change their life and lose weight. The second they make that choice there will be instant resistance. “Oh, you can have one piece of cake” or “Why don’t you come out and drink (2,000 calories worth of) beer with us anymore?”. When you change, it forces a mirror up to the masses and they do not like seeing it. In order to keep that change alive you have to fight every single day.
If change was easy, everyone would do it!
Change is difficult, but change WORKS! The only proven way to GROW is to CHANGE. I frequently say that one of best lifting programs out there is the one that you aren’t doing! Now, does this mean to switch up what you do every week? No! Rather it means to have an open mind and to be accepting of other ideas and concepts. They very well could be the very change that you are looking for! Are you stuck in a rut? Change! Are you unhappy with your life – be it a relationship, a job, or your health – the single most important thing to do is change.
“The key to change… is to let go of fear.” – Rosanne Cash
A vessel that is full can hold no more and a vessel that is empty will blow away in the faintest of breezes… The balance is in the middle! You must have your core ideals and therefore a solid structure. You must also have enough room to let in other thoughts. That is how we learn, adapt, grow, and enhance our lives! How does this apply to your Fitness Lifestyle? Very simply; it allows you to enhance your life and not work against it. Been eating Oatmeal for as long as you can remember? Try eating Quinoa Flakes, your digestion just may thank you! Been avoiding any excess Cardiovascular work like the plague? Go to the local Track and sprint/run the straights and walk the corners. Your body will ultimately thank you and you just might spark some new leg development and fat loss! Have you been Training in the evenings for as long as you can remember? Try getting up before work and getting after it and see how energized you feel the rest of the day! One small change is often the catalyst for many more. That first change is the hardest but the most important. So switch something up!
“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” – Maria Robinson
One thing that will always stay the same is that the masses will be just that – the masses. The masses do not change. They FEAR change. Luckily, you have the power to make even the smallest change to your routine. From there, your outlook changes and new growth is sparked. Remember, change takes active work. It doesn’t fall in your lap.
Change your Perspective, Change your Mind, and Change your Life!
